Brooklyn Center Man Accused of Stealing, Pawning Sister's Wedding Rings

A Brooklyn Center man is accused of stealing his sister?s wedding rings and pawning them in Fridley.

A Blaine woman called police on Thursday, Jan. 24, and said her brother, 23-year-old Zachary Earl Lindberg of Brooklyn Center, stole her wedding rings when he was at her home for Christmas.

The woman said she was hosting Lindberg and his girlfriend when he allegedly went into her bedroom and abruptly left. Soon after, the woman found that her rings were missing.

According to the criminal complaint, she confronted Lindberg, who admitted he took them. The woman told her brother he had one month to return the rings or she would call police.

She says he never returned them.

After contacting police, officers found that Lindberg pawned an engagement ring and wedding band at the Pawn America in Fridley on Jan. 5, according to transaction records and surveillance video. The value of the rings is $1,669.69.

Lindberg told police that he pawned the rings but said his sister gave them to him as a gift.

Lindberg has been charged with one count of theft and one count of receiving stolen property. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines on the theft charge and up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines on the receiving stolen property charge.
